Clay M. Gatens is a Principal of Jeffers, Danielson, Sonn & Aylward JDSA Law. A native of Boulder, Colorado, he joined JDSA Law as a Partner in 2010. Clay’s primary areas of practice are complex Commercial Litigation, Consumer Class Actions, Commercial Real Estate, and Land Use Law.

Clay decided at a young age he would practice law and considered it the next step in his academic pursuits. His move to Wenatchee came after serving as a judicial extern for the Honorable Thomas Zilly, Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington, and practicing in large Seattle law firms. This move was motivated by his belief that, in today’s world, geographical location does not affect one’s ability to participate in sophisticated litigation and transactions. This principle has been validated by recently published landmark decisions from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court.  In each of these decisions, Clay served as lead counsel and represented his client’s position during oral argument in front of the Courts.

Clay’s community focus is on involvement with long range economic planning and development for the region. This focus is demonstrated by his service on the Mayor-appointed committee evaluating the region’s economic sustainability, and his service on the think-tank group for the Our Valley, What’s Next project.
