Marijuana Infused Edible Processors: ACTION REQUIRED

Effective April 1, the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Food Safety Program will have regulatory authority over Marijuana Infused Edible (MIE) Processors.  This change means that MIE Processors will need an additional new state endorsement to ensure the MIE operations meet sanitary processing requirements.

Beginning March 29:

If you are a licensed MIE Processor — you must take the following action:

  • Apply for a new WSDA MIE license endorsement under your business license.
  • Maintain your current Marijuana Processor license and meet all WSLCB licensing requirements

  • Be prepared for more frequent inspections from the WSDA’s Food Safety Program as they enforce state sanitary standards
