Awards Luncheon - Update: Finalists Announced
GWATA ANNOUNCES FINALISTS FOR INNOVATOR AWARDS LUNCHEON
WENATCHEE, WA – GWATA will host the Innovator Awards Luncheon on Thursday, March 30th at the Wenatchee Convention Center. Doors will open at 11:30am with the program from 12:00 – 1:30pm. This event is presented by Jeffers, Danielson, Sonn & Aylward (JDSA Law), Peoples Bank, Stemilt Growers, and Mission Ridge.
During the luncheon, awards showcasing entrepreneurship, innovation, and education will be presented. GWATA will present the award for STEM Educator of the Year. The finalists for STEM Educator of the Year are:
- Tina Nicpan-Brown, Lincoln Elementary School
- Dale Blair, Wenatchee High School
- Dan Ellwood, Wenatchee High School
JDSA Law will present the award for Tech Savvy Business of the Year at the luncheon. Jasen McDaniel, Executive Director for the firm stated “We at JDSA law are thrilled to support GWATA once again this year at their Annual Innovators Luncheon. GWATA brings out the best we have in the community with the idea of sharing solutions to improve the way we innovate in our great city.” The finalists for Tech Savvy Business of the Year are:
Peoples Bank will present the Problem Solving Innovator award to a college student from NCW. “Peoples Bank is supportive of GWATA because of the commitment they make to promoting education and access for youth in both technology and entrepreneurship” said Ann George, VP/Real Estate Loan Manager for Peoples Bank. The finalists for Problem Solving Innovator are:

- Rachel Crow, University of Washington
- Edwin Fonseca, Wenatchee Valley College
- Jared Harris and Nataliia Piestrup, Wenatchee Valley College
Stemilt, 2016 Tech Savvy Business of the Year winner, will present the Future Technology Leader award to a K-12 student. The finalists for Future Technology Leader are:
- Nolan Gavin, Orchard Middle School
- Moses Lurbur, Wenatchee High School
- Miguel Gomez-Rivera, Sterling Intermediate School
- Elisha Glantz, Wenatchee Valley Tech Center
Mission Ridge will present the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the event. The finalists for Entrepreneur of the Year are:
- Dave Carlson, Giga Watt, Inc.
- Drew Zabrocki, Centricity/ApRecs
- Malachi Salcido, The Salcido Connection
This year’s luncheon theme is outdoor recreation and along with the awards, there will be a keynote presentation. GWATA’s keynote presentation is a panel of new Pacific Northwest companies who specialize in creating outdoor recreation gear: CuchCore, eqpd, and Lithic Skis. Scott Paton from Arlberg Sports will interview the entrepreneurs behind these three new companies in a fun Q&A format. In addition, attendees at the event will have the chance to win a pair of custom Mission Ridge Lithic Skis and a 2017-2018 Mission Ridge Pass.
