As previously reported, the fate of the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer Amendment—formerly known as Rohrabacher-Farr—was at risk during recent budget negotiations.
The Amendment has been extended to March 23rd under the budget passed by Congress, and signed last week by the President. Although Congress has not passed a new federal budget since 2015, the longer term fate of the amendment is still uncertain. Without this protection, medical cannabis growers and retailers will continue to operate with uncertainty about the future.
What now?
Currently, protections remain in place. And, we wait. It remains uncertain which side will prevail – that of Attorney General Jeff Sessions with a repeal, or that of the Amendment which passed with Bipartisan support, and the medical marijuana industry.
